Big Bang
“Big Bang” is a series, where history clashes and converses with the present. Ibrahim Rashid’s latest works are an exploration of neocolonialism, immigration, and the dissolution of identity. Icons, objects, and symbols seamlessly transition between timelines, revealing past and present concealed events. Conceived between the tumult of war, in line with the immigrant experience, these laboratory canvases unfold narratives of racial prejudices, inherent fears, and the fluidity of identities. Set against a backdrop reminiscent of the Human Zoo, Rashid interrogates our perception of external chaos and its internalization within our bodies.
This series, probes the collective consciousness, uncovering the challenges of shaping identity in a foreign land. Rashid’s work seeks to expose perpetual foreignness. Through this, he aims to address the dichotomies of actions and events, offering an introspective canvas that reflects on the burdens of history with contemporary realities.
